Every year during the first weekend of October, “The Golden Eagle Festival” is celebrated in Bayan-Ulgii Province, in the far west of Mongolia. Bayan-Ulgii Province is situated in the breathtaking scenery of the Altai Mountain Range, where Mongolian, Chinese and Russian territories meet. The inhabitants of this area are mostly ethnic Kazakh people who inherited their rich culture from their ancestors. They wear fancy embroidered clothes and hunt with their wonderfully trained “Hunter Eagles”.

This 3 days trip will take you to central Mongolia’s beautiful Terelj and Khustai National Parks, Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes and the statute of Chinggis Khaan that is the largest in of its type in the world. You will have opportunities to visit a local nomadic family, ride two-humped Bactrian camel, walk on sand dunes, see the wild Takhi horse also known as Przewalski’s horse, experience staying in the traditional Mongolian dwelling, the ger, and walk and relax in beautifully serene nature.

This 3 days trip will take you to the ancient Mongolian capital of Karakorum, beautiful and functioning Erdenezuu Monastery decorated with 108 white stupas and other surrounding places. Other central Mongolian locations we will visit include beautiful Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes and Khustai National Park. The nature in this area is really spectacular and great for relaxing. During the trip, you will also have opportunities to visit a local nomadic family, ride two-humped Bactrian camel, walk on sand dunes, experience staying in a traditional Mongolian dwelling, the ger, and walk and relax in beautifully serene nature.

Terelj National Park is a picturesque place of high granite cliffs that were eroded by natural forces creating a wonderful landscape of granite tors as if sculpted by some giant sculptor. Terelj is only 60-70 km east of Ulaanbaatar. Terelj National Park was established in 1993 and covers an area of 2932 square km in the southern Khan Khentii Mountain Range. This park has a landscape of transition from Siberian taiga forest to grass steppe. Most visited places in the park are Turtle Rock formation and Aryabal Meditation Temple.

Visit Gandan Buddhist Monastery was established in 1838 and is the most active and one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia. See morning chanting, beautiful temples and the huge 27 meters high gold plated Buddha “Megjid Janraisig”.

To cater for visitors, there are tourist ger camps set up in the national style.

Khustai National Park is located in Altanbulag Sum, Tuv Province. Khustai has 506 square km area and was established in 1993. The park protects the wild horse “Takhi”, also known as Przewalski’s wild horse in the world, and a bio-diversity of other rare wild animals and plants. The quantity of various ecosystems within the park assures an abundance of wildlife. Many of these are mentioned in the Red Data Book as globally threatened with extinction such as the Przewalski’s horse, Mongolian gazelle, red deer, Argali sheep, grey wolf, fox, marmot and many more.

Chinggis Khaan Statue complex is located in “Tsonjin Boldog”, a historical place where Chinggis Khaan found his golden whip. The statue was created as a memorial to the Man of the Millennium “Chinggis Khaan”. The 40 meter high stainless steel statue of Chinggis Khaan on the horseback is the largest of its kind in the world. Recreation area, restaurants, souvenir shop and conference hall occupies the base structure, from here visitors can climb to the top of the horse’s head and have a farseeing and panoramic view over the complex area.
