This 3 days trip will take you to central Mongolia’s beautiful Terelj and Khustai National Parks, Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes and the statute of Chinggis Khaan that is the largest in of its type in the world.You will have opportunities to visit a local nomadic family, ride two-humped Bactrian camel, walk on sand dunes, see the wild Takhi horse also known as Przewalski’s horse, experience staying in the traditional Mongolian dwelling, the ger, and walk and relax in beautifully serene nature.
Day 1. Ulaanbaatar - Chinggis Khan’s Statue – Terelj National Park.
After breakfast we will drive east to Terelj National Park. On the way visit Chinggis Khaan’s statue complex. The 40 meter high stainless steel statue of Chinggis Khaan on the horseback is the largest of its kind in the world. Enjoy the view of the surrounding area from the open balcony on Chinggis Khaan’s horse’s head. Continue driving to Terelj National Park. Terelj is a picturesque place of high granite cliffs that have been eroded by natural forces, creating a wonderful landscape of granite tors as if carved by some giant sculptor. Visit Turtle Rock formation the symbol of the national park and “Aryabal” meditation temple where you can enjoy the best view of the park. Here you will have an opportunity to go horseback riding on your own if you like. (Ger camp/ L, D)
Day 2. Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes.
After breakfast we will drive west to beautiful Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes via Ulaanbaatar. Elsen Tasarkhai is one of the most picturesque places of Mongolia and is part of the 80 km long Mongol Els Sand Dunes. This place is a wonderful combination of pretty sand dunes, majestic granite mountains, grassy green land, a clear fresh spring and a tiny lake. Indeed, here you can enjoy seeing the combination of Gobi and Khangai Natural Zones. Visit a local nomadic family. Enjoy riding a two-humped camel, walking and climbing on the sand dunes. Overnight in a traditional Mongolian dwelling, the ger. (Ger camp/ B, L, D)
Day 3. Khustai National Park – Ulaanbaatar.
After breakfast we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar city. On the way we will visit Khustai National Park. The park has an area of 506 square km and was established in 1993. The park protects the “Takhi” wild horse, also known as Przewalski’s wild horse. The park also contains a great diversity of other rare wild animals and plants. Visit a small museum of the Takhi wild horse and watch a short documentary film about Khustai NP. Enjoy seeing the Takhi wild horse and other wild life. Continue driving to Ulaanbaatar city. (B, L)
